Founded in London in 2023 by CEO Paige Roepers alongside coastal remote-sensing expert Dr Dimos Traganos and data scientist Dr Jeremiah Nieves, Ocean Ledger is a geospatial analytics company that uses satellite imagery and AI models to map and quantify the extent, condition and ecosystem services of coastal habitats such as mangroves, seagrass, coral reefs and saltmarsh. Its UN SEEA-aligned natural capital accounting platform helps engineering firms, municipalities, environmental services and insurers price and manage coastal risk more accurately, including new long-term catastrophe bond products.
Ocean Ledger raised a €900K pre-seed round in March 2025 led by Ananda Impact Ventures and Silverstrand Capital, and works with satellite data provider Planet Labs.
