Founded in 2022 and led by Lehigh University professor Arup SenGupta, Jeevan Climate Solutions has developed DeCarbonHIX, a direct air capture technology that pulls CO2 from the atmosphere using a seawater-based sequestration process and a low-energy thermal regeneration method, converting captured carbon into baking soda for safe ocean release. The approach, published in Science in 2023, is designed to be several times more energy efficient than incumbent DAC technology, targeting removal costs below $100 per tonne of CO2.

The Pennsylvania-based company has been backed by Founders Factory, Blue Action Accelerator and Ben Franklin Technology Partners, alongside more than $1M in innovation funding from the U.S. Department of Energy.
