Launched in 2019 by Jamie Macfarlane, Creator Fund is a London-based venture capital firm and Europe's leading university VC fund, investing in pre-seed and seed-stage deep tech startups founded by PhD students and academic researchers. Rather than waiting for scientific founders to come to it, Creator Fund embeds itself on campus, recruiting around 40 student Venture Fellows a year across roughly 30 universities in 10 countries to identify researchers with founder potential in AI, biotech, robotics and advanced materials.
The fund closed a $56M vehicle in 2026, backed by KfW Capital and Denmark's Export and Investment Fund, after an earlier $41M raise in 2025, making it the largest student-run VC fund in the world.
