Brightly is a climate-tech startup that turns food waste into high-integrity carbon credits, helping food recovery organisations turn rescued meals into a new revenue stream. The platform quantifies methane emissions avoided when food banks and food rescue nonprofits divert edible surplus from landfill, and issues Verra-registered carbon credits that food and beverage companies can purchase to fund that rescue work.
Founded in 2023 by Andy Levitt, Jesse Kahn and Jules Fogarty, Brightly closed a $2.3M seed round led by Schreiber Foods in 2024, with participation from Collaborative Fund, Clear Current Capital and Windsail Capital.
